Aug. 04, 1958 - Hotels wrecked in the Austrian floods. Widespread damage was caused by the floods which swept large areas of Austria recently. Two holidaymakers were drowned and Mr. Edward Barton (43) of Stanmore, Middlesex was sitting in his car outside a hotel when a stream broke its banks and carried the car into the Millstarr lake, in Carinthia.. It was said tlater ther Mr. Barton was trying to rescue the car when a mass of water caught him and he was buried under tons of mud rocks and timber.
