Aug. 08, 1955 - Passengers have miracle escape in train crash; None of the 200 passengers were killed and only 30 were hurt - when a London express bounced off the rails and plunged down an embankment near Rugby yesterday. The driver died trapped under his engine as it overturned in a field. The train, the 10.35 from Manchester to London (Marylebone), was diverted to the down line at Barby, two miles from Rugby, because of track repairs. It was when the train was switched back to the up line that the accident occurred. As it crossed the points it jumped the rails.
