Accidents - Disasters - Fires - Floods - Tragedies

Nov. 11, 1959 - Miracle Boy Awarded £25, 000 As Damage. Two years ago in 1957, a nine year old boy Thierry Despreau was run over by a lorry in a Paris street, in Front of a Hospital. When removed from under the wheels of the heavy vehicle the boy was thought to be dead (his heart stopped beating completely). He was rushed to the hospital just opposite the place where the accident happened. By sheer luck a famous surgeon happened to be there. He was successful to bring the boy back to lifeby massaging his heart. The boy survived but remained permanently lame. The law court awarded him now the equivalent of £25, 000 as damage for the accident. Thierry however, would gladly give away all the money in the world to be able to play and run about with his school mates as he did before the accident.
