Dec. 12, 1959 - Gas Explosion In Dortmund: 18 Killed:in the morning 5 o'clock. a gas explosion took place in Dortmund - Aplerbek on the Market Place, destroying a 3-storage house completely. Immediately after the explosion fire started in the neighboring house, expanding rapidly, and also this second house was completely destroyed. In the houses 35 persons lived. 18 of them were killed immediately or died later in the hospital, others are still, partly are several injured, in hospital. It cannot be assured that the persons still buried by the ruins can be rescued other than dead. Through the high pressure caused by the explosion, all windows in the neighborhood brook, roofs were partly damaged. the damage is said to be several missions D-Marks.
