Jul. 07, 1960 - MAN SQUATS ON LEDGE AND HOLDS UP CITY TRAFFIC I'LL JUMP - DRAMA IN BIRMINGHAM: Forty six year old Reginald Garbett created a sensation in the centre of Birmingham yesterday - when he sat for 101 minutes on a ledge - 80 feet up from the ground - and threatened to jump. Traffic stopped below - to watch the drama. Just before 1 o'clock - Garbett telephoned a Birmingham Newspaper - and said I am going to chuck myself off the top of Lewis's store'. He was eventually pursuaded to go back into the safety of the building. He was taken to hospital for observation.
