Jul. 07, 1960 - Terrible catastrophy in the mine of Salzgitter: A fire in a mine, caused by an explosion, is the reason for a terrible catastrophy which happened in the iron mine Hannoversche Treue in Salzgitter (Salzgitter)/West Germany in a depth of 560 metres. About 47 to 50 miners are said to be dead, as the life-saving troups have no hope of saving any of them because of the strong smoke. Photo shows day and night, relatives of the victims wait in front of the shut gates of the mine
