Dec. 17, 1960 - Aircraft Disaster In Streets Of Munich Students On Way To Spend Christmas In England: An inforce of flames swept the main street of Munich, Germany this afternoon when a C-131 Convair Transport of the U.S. Air Force crashed in flames on to a tram - crowded with Christmas shoppers. Aboard the aircraft were 13 US Students on way to England to spend Christmas with their parents - and a crew of seven. The machine had only just taken off from Munich's Riem airport - scene of the Manchester United crash in February 1958.
