Dec. 12, 1963 - Cruise Liner Ablaze: Six hundred holiday makers, most of them British, took to lifeboats in the Atlantic last night after fire raged through their sunshine cruise liners, the Lakonia, 20, 000 tons, which left Southampton last Thursday on a Christmas holiday cruise. The Greek liner was on fire 100 miles North of Madeira. Ships in the area rushed to the assistance of the striken ship which carried a crew of 300 as well as the 600 passengers.
