Jun. 06, 1960 - Eleven Die In Liverpool Store Blaze: Eleven people lost their lives in the devastating fire which swept through the five storey Henderson Department Store in Church Street, Liverpool yesterday. Hero of the blaze - who also los his life- was 34 year old engineer Colin Murthy who guided live girls to safety along a parapet - after which onlookers saw the parapet collapse - and Murphy crashed down. He grabbed a window ledge but was unable to hang on. He fell 90 ft. through a glass canopy.
