Nov. 11, 1963 - 47 rescued after north sea gas rig blow out two killed and one is missing.: Hellecopters, ships and lifeboats saved 47 men from the gale-lashed North sea afetr a blow out on the gas drilling platform and a supply ship capsized and sunk sunk yesterday. two men were killed and on is missing. The dead men were crew members of the supply ship, Hector Gammet (360 tons), which set out to rescue men trapped in the rig hewett Alpha, 20 miles off the Norfolkt, after a may day message went out. Waves 20ft high drove the ship into the rig and her eight men crew were hurled into the seg-five members of the supply ship were picked up-the bodies of the two others were found later-and one other members of the crew is still missing. seven workers from the rig, which belongs to the American owned Phillips Petroleum Exploration (UK) were also tossed into the icy sea, but they wear picked up by the Cromer lifeboat.
