Sep. 09, 1964 - The day Peter's Taxi went like a Bomb'. Cabbie escapes double blast. Cabbie - Peter Fordham ( 44 ) had two amazing escapes from serious injury yesterday. He was seared in his cab 200 yards from his home at Landon, Essex - when a gas main blew up beneath his taxi - and enveloped it in a wall of flame - he managed to dive out of the cab - and escaped with only a slightly singed eyebrow - as he got away from the cab - explosion Number two lifted the blazing taxi off the ground and sent it spinning 50 ft. across the main Southend road. Gas had to be out off in the distract for an hour after the Photo Shows Peter Fordham examines the wreckage that was once his taxi-cab - after his amazing escapes yesterday
