Jun. 06, 1965 - Racing Driver Escapes Serious Injury in Crash at Brands Hatch: In the second lap of the 10-lap race for Grand Touring cars at Brands Hatch, Kent, yesterday, Keith Burnard, driving a Lotus Elan was with a pack of cars on the tricky Paddock Bend when it rocketed off the track at 80 m.p.h. As it rolled over it struch the safety barrier, A race marshal rushed to the crash with fire-fighting gear. Spectators watched for anxious acconds, then saw Burnard force open his door and wriggle from the upside-down car.
