Mar. 03, 1966 - The Nelson Pillar In Dublin Blown Up: The famous Nelson Pillar, in the center O Connell Street, Dublin, was demolished from about half way up, in an explosion which occurred at about 1.30 yesterday morning. Fortunately no one hurt. The Nelson Pillar, which had an overall height of 134 feet - was erected in 1808-9, at a cost off £7, 000.
