Aug. 08, 1963 - Boys rescued from pit. Two boys from cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, set out to help in the search for a four - year-old boy who was lost in some woods, and themselves became lost in a disused mine at Adderley edge. They were half a mile inside and hundreds of feet below ground, and their torches had run out. It was 23 hours before the tow boys.
