Aug. 17, 1967 - All of the region between Bayonne and Oloron-Sainte-Marie was destroyed by an earthquake that was felt all the way in Barcelona, Spain. Arette was the town in France that received the most damage. One person died. Bulldozers are in the process of tearing down the destroyed buildings. A plan is being made to rebuild the town. Here is a picture of houses remains in the French town of Arette after it was hit by an earthquake
