May 16, 1968 - Fifteen feared dead and 80 trapped when part of block of flats collapses: 15 people are feared dead and 80 trapped in East London today when part of a 23 storey block of flats collapsed today. Teams of police and firemen searched the rubble in Butcher's Road, Canning Town. Reports said there had been an explosion just before the collapse of the south-east corner of the building.
