Apr. 21, 1970 - April 21st, 1970 Plane catches fire at Rome Airport A Scandinavian DC-8 jet airliner caught fire at Rome Airport on Sunday, and the 75 passengers and crew jumped from the emergency exit. The plane, on a flight from Tokyo was waiting to take off, bound for Copenhagen, when an engine caught fire. 23 people were taken to hospital with burns and bruises.
