Jan. 01, 1971 - 66 Die In The Worst Disaster In The History Of British Football At Ibrox Park In Glasgow: 66 fans were killed and another 108 were in hospital early today after Britain's worst-ever soccer disaster. It happened yesterday at Ibox Park, Glasgow, after the traditional New Year game between Glasgow Rangers and Celtic. As the 80, 000 fans were leaving the ground somebody fell on the sloping exit terracing, others fell on top and it snowballed until a crush barrier collapsed, and most of those who died were trampled on and suffocated.
