Mar. 29, 1967 - Torrey Canyon Blaze Is Put Out By The Tide: Last night's high tide put out the blaze on the wracked tanker Torrey Canyon started yesterday by Naval and R.A.F. planes with bombs and tanks of jet fuel. Naval Buccaneers fropped 36 1, 000lb. bombs on the tanker - of which about 30 were on target. Then Hunter jets jettisoned their wing-tip drop tanks - each with 100 gallons of petrol to keep the blaze alive.
