1967 - 123 die in airliner crash in Cyprus: A Britannia airliner, hit by lightning, plunged into a hill near Nicosia, Cyprus today, killing 123 people. Globe Air, Swiss owners of the Britannia said that all 118 passengers and five crew members had been killed. Four persons, including an air hostess survived.
