Oct. 10, 1970 - 28 Dead In Bridge Collapse: At least 28 men were killed when a giant steel and concrete section of Australia's longest bridge collapsed on a riverside street in Melbourne today. Another 25 men are missing, fared to have been trapped when the 150yd long section of the West Gate Bridge being built over the Yarra River flattened a line of sheds.
