Accidents - Disasters - Fires - Floods - Tragedies

Jan. 06, 1972 - Policeman Dies As Mercy Dash Car Hits Post.: A police car rushing a cardiac technician from London to Surrey for an emergency heart case hit a lamp post and overturned only 100 yards from its destination, last night. The police driver was killed, but the technician - a woman - and a nursing sister, escaped serious injury. The call for the heart team was made by St. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, to St. George's Hospital, Hyde Park Corner. Two London police cars were caloed, to act as escort and another to carry the technician, sister and the equipment. A spokesman at St. Peter's said the patient with heart condition was to have had peacemaker treatment before being transferred to St. George's. There was no immediate concern for his condition.
