Mar. 17, 1972 - 9 Die In M. I. Fog Pile Up.: Nine people died and 50 were injured yesterday in the worst M.1. pile up in the fog. At least 130 vehicles from Minis to giant lorries crashed into each other at up to 70 mph. The multiple crash blocked both carriage ways of the motorway at Ridgmont Beds. Seveal drivers were burned to death as they tried to escape from their blazing vehicles.
