Oct. 10, 1973 - Langley Oil Depot Blaze. From about 5 O'Clock night until about 2 A.M. this morning 680 tons of high grade petrol and 370 tons of diesel fuel in 13 rail tankers blazed away. At the height of the blaze flames threatened to spread and ignite more than a million tons of fuel in six giant storage tanks. This massive all night fuel fire was at the small town of Langley, Bucks, In the total Oil Company's biggest fuel depot in Britain and supplies Heathrow Airport and all Southern England with petrol and Oils. Families on a 150 house esta evacuated when the fire broke out, and they were not allowed back until 7 o clock this morning.
