Jun. 06, 1974 - 34 Die and many injured in blast at chemical plant Flixborough, near Sounthorpe: At least 34 people were killed last night after a massive explosion ripped through the Nypro Chemical plant at Flixborough, Near Sounthorpe. Lincolnshire. The explosion was heard 30 miles away. Some of the injured were from the village of Flixborough which took the full force of the blast and lots last night the village ws as a huge cloud of poison gas poured from the factory. The bl from the explosion is not expected to be out cout for atleast 48 hours. Photo Shows: A family moves out from their damaged home as the blaze still goes on in the factory in the background
