Jul. 07, 1976 - Britain's Ambassador In Dublin Is Killed When A Landmine Exploded Under The Embassy Car: Mr. Christopher Ewart-Biggs, 54, Britain's Ambassador to Dublin was killed today when a landmine exploded under the embassy car as he was being driven by his chauffeur from the official residence in Murphystown Road, Sandyford, on the southern outskirts of the city. A woman, believed to be an Embassy side, also died. Mr Ewart-Biggs took up his post in Dublin less than two weeks ago. Photo shows The wrecked embassy car lies in the crater caused by the landmine explosion a few yards from the Ambassador's official residence today
