Jan. 01, 1980 - 10 die as ship hit bridge in Sweden: At least 10 people died when the 27.000 ton Star Clipper was in collision with a road bridge near Gothenburg, Sweden. The bridge connected the islands of Tjorn and Orus, six cars and two trucks drove over the bridge into the sea at the time of the collision.
