Jan. 29, 1982 - A train full of passengers coming from Algeria and going towards Oran hit a convoy of merchandise parked in the Boulahouane Station at full speed. The train, which was carrying 450 passengers, literally exploded upon impact. The assessment of this catastrophe is ongoing, however 130 people have been declared dead and 150 have been declared injured. The mosque of the village has been turned into a make-shift morgue.
