Oct. 10, 1969 - Woman Killed As Bridge Collapses On The A2: A woman was killed and her husband seriously hurt last night, when a footbridge over the A2 at Dartford, Kent, collapsed after the arm of a mechanical digger being carried on a lorry crashed into it. The dead woman, Mrs. Yvonne Dingwall, 29, and her husband, Douglas, 39, were crossing the bridge to meet their 9-year-old son Danny from a Cub Scout meeting. There are two younger children in the family, whose home is in Olive-read, Dartford. The driver of the lorry and his mate escaped death by inches. The falling bridge landed against the back of their cab. Photo shows The remain of the bridge lie across a lorry - after last night's crash on the A2
