Feb. 02, 1956 - British Wife who lost foot protecting her children in Cyprus bomb attack arrives home.: Mrs. Smith, wife of Sgt. Smith who is serving with the 1st. Bn. The Middlesex Regiment arrived at Lyneham this evening from Nicosia. Mrs. Smith, was putting her children, a boy of 7 and a girl of 6 to bed in her home in Larnaca, Cyprus, when a terrorist threw a bomb into the bedroom. Mrs. Smith threw herself over the children to protect them. The children were saved by the efforts of their mother. Mrs. Smith was taken to Nicosia Hospital, where her right foot was amputated.
