Activist - Protest - Riot - Strikes
Feb. 24, 1972 - After one week, Dante Ottaviani remained on his lonely lonely parch on Romes ancient Colosseum protesting his right to obtain a street vendors license. His protest partner, Sabato Panico, came down after 48 hours of standing on a rim of the famed ruin. Panicos hands were nearly rigid with cold his muscles stiff. But he went home by himself, refusing firemens offers to take him to a hospital. Several times a year someone clambers up the Colosseum and threatens to jump or just not come down until such and such a request is granted. Now Dante Ottaviani has became a more attractive for the tourists. (Credit Image: (c) Keystone Pictures USA/ZUMAPRESS.com/Mary Evans)
