Mar. 22 Meat Shortage In The Argentine Butchers On Strike In Protest At Government Rulings. People started to queue at 3 a.m. in front of the few shops in Buenos Aries that were open for business-during the recent strike of Butchers in the Argentine capital. The strike followed the Government order that the slaughter of young cattle was to cease - in order for the rapidly diminishing reserves to be built up. The Butchers claim too high a price - that the quality was poor - and that al the hest grades were being exported. The people just could not understand why the Argentine - one of the greatest meat producers in the world - should be short of.. meat.
