Activist - Protest - Riot - Strikes

Riots in Tokyo over Okinawa reversion Japanese radical students, protesting against the Japan-U.S. Okinawa reversion agreement, used guerrilla tactics, and Molotov cocktails in a riot in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. One policeman was killed after he was set ablaze by a Molotov cocktail and beaten with steel pipes by the rioters. Police arrested 312 students, 61 of them coeds. Over 3, 000 riot police armed with tear gas guns, and Roman shields fought the students. In all 12, 000 policemen were mobilized to control key sites in Tokyo in an effort to control mobs.
