Jan. 01, 1961 -66, 000, 000 Press Merger: Odhams Press, publishers of the Daily Herald and The People, and a large number of magazines, are entering into a link-up with Thomson Allied Newspapers, the huge company headed by Mr. Roy Thomson. The merger will create the largest printing and publishing organisation in the world. The group will be jointly controlled by a holding company which will be known as Thomson Odhams Ltd. Four directors will be appointed by either side. Mr. Thomson will be chairman, and Sir Christopher Chancellor, Chairman of Odhams and of The Daily Herald, will be deputy chairman.
