Jan. 01, 1969 - News of the World takeover bid shareholders meeting: Mr. Robert Maxwell (Pergamon Press) and Mr. Rupert Murdoch (New Ltd. of Australia), the contenders in the take over struggle for the News of the World, attended today's crucial meeting of the shareholders at the Connaught Rooms, Kingsway. The News of the World shareholders voted 299 to 20 on a show of hands in favor of the deal with New Limited, the Australian group.
