Nov. 16, 1970 - First poster Museum in the western world, : The first poster museum in the Western World, beside the Polish poster museum at the Castle Wilano near Warsaw it is the second of its kind - has been opened at Essen, FRG. About 15 000 posters of two centuries give a comprehensive view of the incessantly new modes circus, variety show, film, sports, politics, arts and economics, have addressed the public for advertising. Some of the most interesting exhibits are French posters of the time between 1875 and 1908. 500 sheets are illustrating the world of the circus originating between 1180 and 1920.
