Feb. 02, 1981 - RUPERT MURDOCH TAKES OVER TIMES NEWSPAPER LTD. Mr. Rupert Murdoch, who owns the News of the World and the Sun newspapers, is now about to take over Times Newspaper Ltd. after completing agreements with the Print Unions last night. The deal between Mr. Murdoch's News International and the International Thomson Organisation, will be finalised today following three weeks of negotiations, which will result in the loss of 563 permanents jobs and more than 100 additional shifts on the paper.
