Admiral Sir Guy Grantham KCB, British Royal Navy

Mar. 31 New Allied Navy Top Brass: Recently appointed Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Station and Commander-in-Chief, Allied Forces, Mediterranean is Britain's Admiral Sir Guy Grantham, who succeeds Admiral the Earl Mountbatten of Burma in both jobs. Born in 1900, Sir Guy joined the Royal Navy at the age of 18. During the last war he was in 1940, in command of the cruiser Phoebe and in 1941 and 1942 served with the 15th Cruiser Squadron in the Mediterranean, in December 1942 commanded the aircraft carrier Indomitable and in 1944 and 1945 attended the conference at Quebec, Yalta and Potsdam as Director of Plans at the Admiralty. Since 1951 he has held the position of Vice-Chief of Naval Staff, an appointment of which he has just been relieved. Photo shows Admiral Sir Guy Grantham
