As these pictures were taken diplomats and financiers in the US Algeria and Iran were working overtime to finalise details of the deals securing the release of the 52 diplomatic staff and guards held in captivity since the occupation of their embassy by student revolutionaries. Whilst appearing physically fit, the tension of the agonising wait shows on some of the faces of the hostages who are now resuming their normal lives in the US.
