Mar. 03, 1954 - Egyptian Suffragettes Call Off Hunger Strike: Dr. Doria Shafik, President of the Bent E1 Nil Union and her comrades, ended their hunger strike for women's political rights, on Friday evening, after receiving assurances from President Neguib in which he said be sure that your demands are in honest hands'. The message was delivered to the women hunger strikers at Kasr E1 Ainy Hospital, by the Governor of Cairo, after they had been on strike for seven days.
