Jan. 23, 1953 - Sudan is Ours - shouts Neguib. guns boom as Liberation Front is born in Egypt.: General Neguib the Dictator-Premier of Egypt, today proclaimed a Liberation Front to replace the country's dissolved political parties. Its aims are to achieve unity with the Sudan, and to force the evacuation of the British from the Nile Valley. Booming guns heralded the announcement. It was made by General Neguib to a crowd of 100, 000 who had watched a spectacular parade through Cairo to mark his first six months in Power. The General took an oath of Loyalty to A new liberated Egypt'. The crowd, massed in Liberation Square repeated it after him. It calls for Allah's meroy on those who prefer death in their struggle for Liberty rather than live a mean life under slavery'. According to Cairo Radio it demands the sacrifice of life and blood to attain liberty'.
