Sep. 09, 1955 - United Kingdom agrees to accelerate settlement of wartime sterling debt to Egypt.: Britain has agreed to accelerate the settlement of her war time sterling debt to Egypt in a series of annual payments by the Bank of England of the remainder of the balance was recently signed at the Ministry of Finance, Cairo by Sir Humphrey Trevelyan the British Ambassador and Dr. Abdel Moneim el Kaissouny the Minister of Finance and National Economy.
