May 05, 1955 - Somali Protectorate Petition To United Nations Organization. A delegation representing the 650, 000 inhabitants of the Somali Protectorate today delivered to the Colonial Secretary a letter and the text of a Petition sent to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, requesting U.N.O. to refer to the International Court of Justice for an advisory opinion their dispute with the British Government over the transfer of 25, 000 square miles of Somali Territory to Ethiopia. The delegation consists of Sultan Abdarahman, Sultan Abdillahi, Mr. Michael Mariano, and Mr. Dubeh Ali, representing the Protectorate.
