May 05, 1959 - Bush Blasting: More than 100, 000 acres of rough, tough African bushland are being cleared to make the fishing grounds and harbours of the great lake which will form behind the Kariba Dam, the 16 million project to supplypower to Rhoedesia's copper belt. Local farmers, tribes and wild animals have been or are being resettled in other areas. The British Colonial Development Corporation (the British Government's financial organization to assist colonial development) and British commercial banks have played a large part in the financing.
