Dec. 26 Heir to Nasser is under arrest: Dying President Nasser named the man he wanted to succeed him but the man he chose is under house arrest in Cairo because he is unacceptable to Russia. Zakaria Mohieddin was Nasser's nominee, reliable diplomatic informants reported today. President Nasser was said to have made his last wish to Information Minister Hassanein Heikal, one of his closest friends. Today's disclosure followed indications that Nasser's succession has not been settled despite the nomination of Anwar Sadat as the new President by closed caucus of the ruling Arab Socialist Union. Sadat's nomination is expected to be endorsed in Yes-No referendum in Thursday. Zakaria Mohieddin is a former Prime Minister.
