Jun. 06, 1961 - Nigerian Navy Ship launched: H.M.N.S Enugu, the first ship to be specially built for the Royal Nigerian Navy was launched today at Gosport by Mrs. Flora Azikiwe, wife of the Federation's Governor-General. A sea defence boat, the Enugu, will hunt subs. She is 117 by 20 feet.
