Mar. 03, 1963 - Home Secretary stands firm over deportation of Nigerian Chief: Mr. Henry Brooke, the Home Secretary stood firm against any concession on the deportation of Chief Enahoro back to Nigeria when he met Conservative back-benchers of the Home Affairs Committee last night. He faced a barrage of critical questions from members but the only point he granted was to confirm that Chief Enahoro will not leave the country before the Commons debate on the case on Thursday. Mr. Brooke himself admitted on Thursday that the statue of 1881 under which Chief Ehahoro is being deported is out of date and takes no account of recent developments in Commonwealth organisation.
