Feb. 02, 1966 - Bechuanaland Independence Conference: The Secretary of State of the Colonies, (the Earl of Longford) today opened the Bechuanaland Independence Conference, at Marlborough House, London. The Bechuanaland delegation was led by the Prime Minister (Mr. Seretse Khama). The provisional date for independence is September 30, 1966.
