Feb. 25, 1966 - Nkrumah Swept From Power In Ghana. Dr. Busia Says He's Ready To Go Back. President Kwame Nkrumah was swept from power in Ghana yesterday, in a swift, efficient coup. Army leaders seized power whilst Nkrumah was being feted in Peking by the leaders of the Communist Party. In London last night, Dr. Kofi Busia, self-exiled leader of Ghana's Opposition, said he would consider going back as the country's prime minister if he is invited.
