Jan. 01, 1966 - Chephren's pyramid opened to public after 5, 000 years: Chephren's Pyramid, next in magnitude to Cheeps was recently opened to the public in Egypt, after 5, 000 years. When Chephren built his immortality fort in 2620 B.C. he didn't foresee that one day his grave would one day be lit by lamps that disclose all the mysteries of his place. Unlike Cheops, Chephren's Pyramid has two entrances in addition to the opening dug through by tomb-thieves who robbed it of all its treasures. Names found inscribed in the ceiling of one of the compartments indicated that some persons had entered the pyramid many years ago, including and Italian archaeologist by the name of Belzoni in 1818 and a Russian adventurer by the name of Caesar Alexander.
